Lindsay Clancy Attorney Files Motion Seeking Not Guilty Finding After Mistrial

BREAKING NEWS USA

Lindsay Clancy's defense attorney has filed a new court motion seeking a finding of not guilty after her high-profile Massachusetts trial ended in a mistrial.

The new legal development comes after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Reports said the jury was divided, with 11 jurors favoring a finding of not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility and one juror not agreeing.

What Is the New Motion?

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington is asking the court to consider whether the evidence presented during the trial was legally sufficient to support a conviction.

According to recent reports, the defense is pursuing a legal motion that could allow Judge William Sullivan to enter a not guilty finding if the court determines that the prosecution's evidence was legally insufficient.

The Trial Previously Ended in a Mistrial

Clancy's trial ended in a mistrial on September 4, 2026, after jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict following days of deliberations.

A mistrial does not mean that the defendant has been found guilty or not guilty. The case remains unresolved while the court considers the next legal steps.

What Happens Next?

The next court hearing is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

At that hearing, the judge is expected to consider the defense motion and other possible next steps in the case. Prosecutors may also decide whether to seek another trial, depending on how the legal proceedings develop.

Important Legal Note

The allegations and legal arguments in this case have been contested by both sides. Lindsay Clancy has not been convicted in connection with the current charges, and the case remains subject to further court proceedings.

This article will be updated if significant new information becomes available.
