Medical Plane Missing While Flying From Bermuda to Boston With 6 People on Board

A medical transport plane carrying six people went missing early Saturday while flying from Bermuda to Boston, prompting a search operation by the U.S. Coast Guard off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.
The aircraft, a Gulfstream G100 operated by Ontario-based Latitude Air Ambulance, left L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda early Saturday morning. It was expected to arrive at Boston Logan International Airport, but the plane never reached its destination.
According to officials, the Federal Aviation Administration lost contact with the aircraft around 1:20 a.m. and issued a search-and-rescue alert. The Coast Guard then began searching the waters near Nantucket using aircraft and surface vessels.
The airport operator in Bermuda said the aircraft had four crew members and two passengers on board when it departed. The identities of those aboard had not been publicly released in the initial reports.
The Coast Guard search involved multiple resources, including aircraft, a helicopter, a rescue boat and a cutter. Officials said the search was continuing as authorities worked to locate the missing aircraft and determine what happened.
The incident has drawn attention in both Bermuda and Canada because the aircraft was registered in Canada and operated by Latitude Air Ambulance, which is based in Hamilton, Ontario.
At this stage, authorities have not publicly confirmed the cause of the loss of contact or the condition of the people aboard. The search and investigation remain ongoing.
This is a developing story. More information may be released as search teams and authorities provide updates.
